I really enjoyed reading this book. I was gripped by the trials of the "Hero" SS officer.l will not elaborate anymore for risk of spoiling it for future readers. A wonderful piece of story telling interlocked with historical events. Well worth reading.

Refreshing to read a story that is not overwritten but paints a a vivid picture in the readers mind and heart and describes a reality of war from 1 mans very personal level - and ends with a memory and thoughts of what might if BEEN. Pen with such perception into the emotions of the characters, the author creates a novel with an unusually insightful mix of action and romance.

Quite an emotive subject for me.The author has written well about this young SS officer who has become disillusioned with the Nazi's but stayed fiercely patriotic to his country, disgusted with what he sees daily and not wanting to be a party to.. The character has been well written not the evil sadistic killer that would be usually portrayed but a man with principles who falls in love. A novel with romance action and true facts. well written Jon I enjoyed the read.
